I was skeptical that this net would work, that it would fit our tress and that they would hold up for months of outdoor weather. But the net exceeded my expectations!First to note that the color doesn't match the picture. It's more of an olive green. But light still gets through just fine so that's not a big deal. The Large net is really big. And really heavy. You're definitely going to need some kind of support for a young apple tree as it would collapse the branches. You also need 2 people to get the net over the tree as it's too big and heavy for just one person. We used an apple picker pole and a tree pruning pole to get it over the tree. The net has two little loops that you can attach a pole to and a velcro opening that it made it easy enough to get it up and over the tree.The net was EXTREMELY durable. I was shocked. Several times the top branch of the tree was severely poking the top of the net. It protruded about 4-6" outside the surrounding netting. But did it break through? No. I either adjusted the PVC frame I had built or trimmed the branch so it no longer poked. But the most impressive thing was that it protected it from racoons. We had a crazy raccoon that would come each night and try to rip the net apart. He would latch on to the bottom with his teeth and pull and jump like mad. In the morning you'd see several cone-shaped pieces of the net sticking out where he pulled and some very small (pinhead-sized) holes in the net. But the net held! I was super impressed.For the structure, I used three 1/2" by 10' PVC poles attached via a coupler to make a single 30' piece. I then made another 30' piece and attached them together perpendicular at the midpoint using a screw and wing-nut. I then took 2 pieces of 3/8" by 10' rebar, cut them in half to get four 5' pieces. I then pounded each piece 4' into the ground at an angle so 1' was sticking out. I then slid each end of the PVC pieces on top of the rebar. When it was done it created a hot air balloon shape around the tree. I then used clamps to secure the net to the PVC poles. It was semi-stable, but was pretty shaky in the wind. So I took 7' T-posts and put them on 4 sides of the tree and ran a string from the PVC pipe to the T-post. That made it much more stable and it held up well against wind, rain and those pesky raccoons.We just finished our first season, and the apples were beautiful and tasty! The nets look almost identical to when we got them so I'm sure they'll last several seasons. Finally no worms in our apples and no apples being knocked down or eaten by squirrels, bees or raccoons! Well worth the money!
