This book states, "Plant cells are mostly made up of water." This gives a poor impression of what is in a plant cell. It states, "Tight spaces can cause plants to stay small and not get enough air." Plants may be small because of crowded roots and competition for water or minerals, but it is not because of lack of air. Another statement, "Plant seeds have hard coverings to protect them from the cold." Seed coats are not animal coats; they are not for insulation. The experiment at the beginning of the book instructs children to water their seeds/plants every two days without any mention of checking if the soil has dried. I foresee some soggy rotting seeds. The experiment instructs children place one plant in a plastic bag in an attempt to deprive it of air, which doesn't seem like a useful approach. All in all, I think this book has too many flaws to be useful in a classroom.
